Funding
Every day brings new writing experiences. I’m never bored!
The following sources of funding may help cover part, or all, of the costs associated with hosting me
at your venue. Please visit program websites for eligibility requirements and application guidelines.
School Visits in Alberta
Are you a school, library, or organization in Alberta interested in hosting me? The Young Alberta Book Society will fund my travel to any Alberta location through it Taleblazers program, which supports literacy initiatives. Visit my YABS author page for pricing, and details on my grades K-12 and family literacy presentations.
Northern Ontario Schools
Applications for the Northern Ontario Writers-in-the-Schools program are usually posted in late fall with a January 15 deadline. Details about the program for 2021 may evolve in light of changing health regulations for in-person events in Ontario. Details will be available later in the year.
Public Readings – Canada
As a member of The Writers Union of Canada (TWUC), I’m eligible to apply for funding through the National Public Readings Program, which supports in-person and virtual presentations at public locations anywhere in Canada. Please contact me to discuss your event.
Ontario Writers-in-the-Schools
As a Writers’ Union of Canada (TWUC) member, I’m eligible for funding to present in person or virtually at Ontario elementary and secondary schools through the Ontario Writers-in-the-Schools (WITS) program. For more information contact the TWUC office at info@writersunion.ca.
Canada Council Funding – Arts Across Canada
Arts Across Canada funding supports libraries and other organizations across Canada. It funds readings, presentations, and author residencies. For details, email artsacrosscanada@canadacouncil.ca or phone 1-800-263-5588 or (613) 566-4414, ext. 4039.
Artists and Education Funding – Alberta
The Alberta Foundation for the Arts (AFA) funds approved authors to serve as writers-in-residence in Alberta schools through the Artists and Education project grant. You can apply to host me for a one to thirty day literacy-building residency for students from kindergarten to grade 12. The annual deadline is May 1 of each year. Please contact me as early as possible to ensure sufficient application time.
